Frequently Asked Questions

Q. : Are knee joints more prone to arthritis after ACL reconstruction?
A: Yes. Knee joints that have been injured, or have undergone ACL reconstructive surgery are more prone to osteoarthritis (link). The injury furthers the instability within the knee, causing the load distribution in the cartilage and underlying bone to be disrupted. This leads to osteochondral (bone and ligament) degeneration.
